Discover new design talent at MAD Brussels

We Inspire, Connect and Guide. That is the new slogan of MAD Brussels, the centre for fashion and design. The autumn programme is all about a new generation of young creatives from Brussels. As of 16 September, MAD Brussels will present to the public a great deal of new design talent!

MAD Graduation Show

Expo from 16 September to 5 November

Every year, MAD Brussels awards 10 prizes to graduates of a Brussels-based creative discipline. For the first time, the graduation projects of the ten winners are presented in September during the MAD Graduation Show. This group exhibition offers the young designers visibility, guidance and networking opportunities. In doing so, MAD tries to promote their professional careers and give a helping hand to the starting entrepreneurs, as well as showcasing the wide range of courses that Brussels has to offer; from fashion and interior design to textiles, research and industrial product development.

The design winners of the MAD Graduation prize and the participating institutes are:

  • Louise Richard — Textile design, Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles
  • Maxime Trassebot — Industrial design, La Cambre
  • Helen Van de Vloet — Textile design, La Cambre
  • Mélanie Chillaud — Textile design, Haute Ecole Francisco Ferrer
  • Manon Verniers — Interior design, LUCA School of Arts
  • Steven Da Cruz Gonçalves — Interior design, Ateliers Saint-Luc
  • Emilien Maree — Interior Architecture, College of Art and Design Brussels

Open Ateliers Days

16 & 17 September

In September, MAD Brussels introduces its ten new residents to the public. The MAD Incubator is a programme supporting the Brussels fashion and design sector and is an essential and important part of MAD Brussels. The programme not only supports designers and creators by offering them a place to stay and create for two years, but it also offers them a tailor-made support programme with workshops by experts, contacts with local and international stakeholders, and exchanges with social and sustainable entrepreneurs.

Based on the economic potential, creative wealth and social value of the project, five fashion and five design entrepreneurs were chosen by the jury. The selection consists of designers who investigate the current issues of the sector of fashion and design - and society in general. Innovative design as a tool for economic, social and ecological challenges. The five new design residents are Studio Minimètre, Guillaume Slizewicz, Kana Arioka, Margot Van Den Berghe and Vanessa Colignon. The public has the opportunity to visit the residents in their new studio and discover their work during the Open Ateliers Days on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 September.
